Patrol Leaders Council

Adult Leaders

Lord Baden-Powell, Scouting’s founder, said “The patrol system is not one method in which Scouting for boys can be carried on.  It is the only method.”  Boy Scouts of America Troops across the nation, small and large, organize themselves around the Patrol MethodThis method is boy-led, and adult-supervised.

The  Patrol Leaders Council plans and runs the troop’s program and activities and gives long-range direction with an annual program planning conference that lays out the troop’s calendar for the coming year.  Composed of the positions shown at left, the PLC also meets periodically to fine tune up-coming meetings and outings.  The Patrol Leaders Council is supported by other Scouts in supporting positions.  Click the Leadership Title links at left to see description of the position.

Troop Committee

The Troop Committee may be seen as the “board of directors” of a troop.  Members are often parents of boys in the troop and support the adult leaders by maintaining records of finances, assist in the charter renewal process, support boards of review and courts of honor, and assist with troop events.
