Bike Ride 2006 page 1

Beginning at the top of Mt. Soledad in La Jolla, with views of the coastline and their Coronado destination in the distance, Troop20 biked over 16 miles and took the ferry to Coronado for more riding.

Seven scouts and four adults participated, meeting at the top of Mt. Soledad around 9:30 AM: Nick A., Ryan, Clayton, Mikey, Tem, John T. and John L, along with adults Clyde, Dan, Frances, and Mike

The first stretch was downhill from the Cross at Mt. Soledad to the Pacific Ocean, then along the bikepaths and through neighborhoods of La Jolla to hook up with the Boardwalk along Mission Beach to Belmont Park by 11:00AM.  We took advantage of bike paths to take us through the park and over the San Diego River to join Pacific Highway near Old Town.  From there it was only a short ride down to the Ferry Landing at Broadway pier for lunch shortly after noon.

With the next ferry leaving at 1:00 PM, we had lunch at a deli across from the cruise ships.  We had about an hour on Coronado and followed a bike trail along the harbor and under the Coronado bridge, then through some neighborhoods returning to the ferry landing for our 2:30 PM ride back to downtown.  Here we picked up some previously placed vehicles to return to Mt. Soledad.
