Troop 20 returned to isolated Cougar Canyon for the first time since 2006 and 2005. There was a large contingent with 8 Scouts and 8 Adults. Scouts attending were Clay, Edward, Thomas, Mike, Stephen, Will, Erik, and Kieran. We met at the Scout room at 4:45pm and left around 5pm, stopping in Romona for dinner at Manana’s Taco shop and arriving in Anza Borrego Park after dark. Links can be found on previous year’s trip pages. We worked our way north out of Borrego Springs and up Coyote Wash to the third crossing where we car camped for the evening. The evening was very windy, but the scouts were able to make a fire with a few staying up until midnight. Up with the sun, we walked our typical path over boulder alley to Cougar Canyon amid the spring wildflowers and blooming cactus. There was lots of water coming down Cougar Canyon and the afternoon was spent relaxing, climbing the boulders, or hiking up the canyon to see the eye. The wind calmed soon into the day and the night was perfect under a zillion stars. After dinner time was spent working on advancement requirements. Sunday morning we walked out, stopping at Boll Weevil in Ramona for burgers and back at the Scout Room by 2:30pm.
