During May Troop 20 went on a 11 mile hike to San Jacinto State Park.  The scouts who went on this trip were Jack, Nick, Nick, Nick, Erik, Edward, Kieran, Wig, Will, Paul and our Scoutmaster Dan and Jack’s Dad.  Nick’s Dad Francis also came along.  On Friday after school we drove up to Palm Springs and had dinner at Carls Jr.  Then we took a large rotating tram up to the upper tram station at the Palm Springs tram station.  Then we put on our packs and started the trek to our campsite.  It was dark on our short two mile hike to our campsite.  We pitched our tents and went to bed.  That morning we got geared up to go on the hike to the summit and pump water but in the process we were kicked out of our campsite.  We then had to pack up everything after eating breakfast and hike a half a mile to a mile to our other campsite.  When we arrived we immediately dropped our packs and packed our day packs so that we would have enough time to summit.  We all made it but it was a very tiring hike to the summit it was a 5.5 mile hike from our campsite straight up the whole way.  When we reached the summit we rested joyfully for about an hour breathing in that 10000 foot air and taking in those beautiful views.  Then it was a breeze going down the 5.5 mile mountain.  When we returned back to camp we all rested for a while then pitched our tents.  That night we worked on requirements and also set up a orienteering course around the area of our camp for a requirement for 2nd class and we ended up getting a very delicious chocolate bar.  We then ate our dinner and played cards and also played eagles eye and then we took a long sleep.  Then in the morning we packed up and hiked back to the tram station and after the tram station we ate a fabulous lunch at a traditional dinosaur diner.  This scout trip is definitely something the scouts and I will cherish forever.  It was all worth while.
